Error Messages

I received a Read File Failed error on my NAV300 unit, what does that mean?

If you receive a Read File Failed error on your NAV300 unit select "ok" to remove the error. This is not a fatal error and navigation functionality will continue as normal. This can occur if the device is turned off while reading from the SD card, reading the map at startup, searching for points of interest (POI) or calculating a route.

Why did I get an error message on my NAV300 unit stating that a map could not be found?

If you get an error message on your NAV300 unit stating that a map could not be found, try checking to see if the SD card is properly inserted and reboot your system. Using an SD card adaptor (sold separately) check that the map files are still on the SD card, copy all files from the backup folder on the backup DVD to the SD card and insert SD card back into the device. (SD card adaptor not included). http://shopdelphi.com/consumers/

SD Card directory structure should look like the following:

MN6 File Folder
NT064_MN6_Alaska_##############.map MAP File
NT064_MN6_Hawaii_##############.map MAP File
NT064_MN6_PuertoRico_##############.map MAP File
NT064_NorthAmerica_MN6_##############.map MAP File

Why do I get an error message on my NAV300 unit stating the route cannot be calculated?

If you get an error message on your NAV300 unit while trying to calculate a route, it may mean that your current position is not on a road and the software does not know where to begin (typically a large parking lot or rural area). Drive to the nearest road and start the calculation again.

While trying to calculate a route on my NAV300 unit what do I do if I get an error message stating that the destination is in an isolated area?

If you get an error message on your NAV300 unit that states the destination is in an isolated area, this indicates that the destination is in an area that is not on a road. Select a point closer to the road and try the calculation again. Check your settings, for example, if your destination is located on an island and you have "ferries" de-selected, you will receive this error message.

General Information

What are the differences between vehicle, bicycle, and pedestrian in the speed profile setting of my NAV300 unit?

On your NAV300 unit, the vehicle profile is used for routing while in a vehicle and enforces all standard traffic laws (1-way streets, turn restrictions, etc) and bases time estimates on road speed limits. The bicycle profile is designed for usage while on a bicycle and removes restrictions for traffic laws but prohibits travel on interstates. Time estimates are also increased to match average bicycle speeds. The pedestrian profile is similar to the bicycle mode but lowers the time estimates further to match average walking speeds.

What is a TMC and how do I use it?

TMC stands for Traffic Message Channel and is a traffic information module. To use the TMC service, you must purchase the optional TMC receiver accessory. Check http://shopdelphi.com/consumers/ for product availability. The TMC receiver accessory is supplied with a lifetime subscription to the traffic service. Simply load the software per the instructions, connect the receiver and antenna.

What is the threaded insert for on the back of the NAV300? Am I missing a threaded fastener from my kit?

The threaded insert on the back of the NAV300 unit is for an optional Motorcycle Mount Accessory. Please check http://www.shopdelphi.com/consumers/ for availability.

How can I view the software in French or Spanish on my NAV300 unit?

Language settings on your NAV300 unit can be found in the main device menu under settings. The navigation software will adjust itself accordingly. Note that French, Spanish, and English are the only languages supported. If any other language is selected, the device will continue to use English.

Are other skins available for the NAV300 unit?

No other skins are available for the NAV300 unit at this time.

Can the NAV300 read audio files in subfolders?

The NAV300 can read audio files in subfolders. It basically ignores subfolder headers.

Maps

Where do I report an error in the map/point of interest (POI) database?

Map issues can be reported directly to the map database provider, NAVTEQ at http://update.navteq.com.

What maps are available for my NAV300 unit and how much space do they need on the SD card?

Your NAV300 unit includes the following maps and space requirements on the SD card: USA and Canada, 1.73GB; Alaska, 24.58MB; Hawaii, 11.17MB; Puerto Rico, 13.09MB; and Navigation Software (MN6 Folder), 12.90MB. File sizes are subject to change.

Can I purchase updated map materials for my NAV300 unit?

Currently there are no new map updates for the NAV300 unit. New map updates are available for the NAV200 unit and can be found here:
www.navigation.com/delphimapupdate3

Other Functions

Why do I get errors sometimes when I multiply decimals on the NAV300 calculator?

The NAV300 calculator truncates numbers beyond 3 decimal places so any numbers input beyond 3 decimal places may be subject to rounding errors.

Are additional games available for the NAV300?

There are no additional games available for the NAV300 unit.

Are advanced calculators available for the NAV300?

There are no advanced calculators available for the NAV300.

SD Card

What SD card models do you recommend?

We recommend the following SD card models: Transcend 2GB, TS2GSD80; SanDisk 2GB, SDSDJ-2G; KINGMAX 2GB, KP02GS4 (KP02GS6 - PB Free version) and Kingston 2GB, SDHC 2GB. SD cards from other vendors may not work correctly, or have not been tested.

What do I do if I erased my SD card, need to purchase a new SD card or lost my SD card?

If you erased your SD card, copy all files from the backup folder on the backup DVD to a SD card (2.0GB or larger). If your computer will not access the disc, make sure you have the disc in a DVD drive, not a CD drive. Insert the SD card back into the device. (SD card adaptor not included).

Recommended SD Card models:

Transcend 2G : TS2GSD80
SanDisk 2G : SDSDJ-2G
KINGMAX 2G : KP02GS4(KP02GS6 - PB Free version)
Kingston 2G : SDHC 2GB

SD Cards from other vendors may not work correctly, or have not been tested.

Why doesn't my computer see the SD Card adaptor (reader/writer) I purchased?

Check your USB port(s) on your computer. If your computer has USB 1.1 port(s) and the reader/writer is USB 2.0 the computer may not see it. USB 2.0 is also much faster than USB 1.1 (as much as 40X faster), so copying gigabyte size files is a time consuming task on a USB 1.1 device.

I reformatted my SD Card and copied the files from the DVD, now the NAV300 has no voice and won't route. What’ wrong?

The SD Card must be formatted in FAT (FAT16), not FAT32 or NTFC.

Why doesn't my NAV300 run after I restored the files to my SD Card from the DVD?

Check the files on your SD Card, if you copied the folders such that the "MN6" folder is not visible to the NAV300, it doesn't know what to do. Copy all DVD (backup) files to the SD Card "Root Directory." Do not copy the "Manual" folder to the SD Card.

SD Card directory structure should look like the following:

MN6 File Folder
NT064_MN6_Alaska_##############.map MAP File
NT064_MN6_Hawaii_##############.map MAP File
NT064_MN6_PuertoRico_##############.map MAP File
NT064_NorthAmerica_MN6_##############.map MAP File

How big of an SD Card will the NAV300 support?

Up to 2 GB. To avoid potential problems, please use one from our approved sources: SanDisk; Kingston; Kingmax; or Transcend (The "standard" quality SD Card actually seems to work best.)

Technical Questions

How do I open the navigation application on my NAV300 unit if it is grayed out?

If you cannot open the navigation application and the NAVI button on the main menu is gray, verify the SD card is inserted and it has all applicable software and maps. If needed, copy the files over from the backup DVD. Reboot after inserting NAV SD Card.

Why isn't my NAV300 unit detecting a GPS signal?

The icon stays red when selected or says GPS is not available. If your NAV300 unit does not detect a signal, make sure the device has a clear view of the sky and the GPS antenna is extended. Some vehicles have heated/metallic windshields that degrade GPS signal reception. If you have just turned on your unit, allow additional time to find the signal. If you are in an urban area (New York City, Chicago), move away from tall buildings or other obstructions. Voice prompts may not match map. If you are still having problems, you may need to purchase an external antenna.

Why can't I get a valid GPS position in a large city?

If you are in a large city and are having trouble getting a signal from your NAV200 unit you may be able to obtain a signal simply by moving around to a different location. Large metropolitan areas can create an "urban canyon" which disrupts the GPS signals from the various satellites. This is caused by multiple signals from the same satellite bouncing off of the various buildings and confusing the GPS receiver. An alternative would be to purchase an external antenna accessory to obtain a better signal. http://shopedelphi.com/consumers/

Why can't I find a point of interest (POI) using my NAV300 unit?

The current map on the NAV300 unit includes approximately 1.6 million POIs in a variety of categories. We strive to keep the database information as up to date as possible however some inconsistencies may occur over time. These changes will be reflected in future updates to the map database.

Why does the route the NAV300 calculates differ from my preferred route for going from point A to point B?

Calculation on the NAV300 unit is based on a complex algorithm that compares each road segment with respect to speed, traffic flow, number of lanes, etc. In some cases, the suggested route may follow a different set of streets than what you are used to. This is correct behavior and follows the rules specified in the database. Routes will also change depending on if you have selected fastest or shortest route or have prohibited use of interstates, ferries, or tollways. Route settings can be changed in the settings menu by going to Settings -> Routing Options.

Why don't I receive TMC messages on my NAV300 unit if I have an active TMC service?

TMC service is only supported on your NAV300 unit in specific metropolitan areas. You must have a valid GPS signal to begin receiving TMC messages because GPS signal sends time information used to verify your TMC service. TMC messages are broadcast over FM radio frequencies. Be sure the antenna is attached to your TMC receiver and fully extended for best reception.

How do I delete my my favorites / recent destinations?

To remove favorite/recent destinations, after selecting the entries to be removed, the NAV300 must go through an “orderly” shutdown, by pressing the "Quit" softkey and exiting Navigation. Simply pressing the "Power Button" will not work.

Why am I asked for a pin each time I try to use my phone with my NAV300?

You have multiple profiles for similar phones entered on your NAV300, the unit doesn’t know which profile to use.Press the Bluetooth button on the front panel --> Tap "Settings" --> Tap "Bluetooth Reset" --> Tap "Yes". This will delete all profiles and you will need to recreate the profile(s) you want.

How do I convert to .avi format if my NAV300 won't read my movie files?

You can try the file converters available on the following websites. Delphi does not promote or guarantee the function of any of these programs. We are providing this information as a possible solution only.
